MERCATOR (RAMSGATE) RACE – SUPPLEMENTARY SAILING 
INSTRUCTIONS
1. RULES
1.1 Haven Points Series Sailing Instructions superseded as follows:
a. Offshore Special Regulations 2020-2021 Category 3 Monohulls (with Category 2 liferaft) shall 
apply.
b. A boat that is on the course side at the start and fails to return and start correctly shall not be 
scored OCS, but shall have one hour added to her corrected time (changes RRS Appendix A4.2).
1.2 In the event of a conflict, these Supplementary Sailing Instructions shall prevail.
2. AFLOAT RACE OFFICER 
An “Afloat Race Officer” will be designated to receive declarations and/or protests, and for co ordination and communication purposes. Details will be repeated on VHF Channel 72 before the 
start.
3. START, LINE & COURSE
The race is Scheduled to start at 0800 BST with a single start for all classes.
The start line in Harwich Harbour will be the line between the Beacon Hill buoy and a staff with an 
orange flag on the committee boat, approximately 1 cable to the east of the buoy. The line is to be 
crossed in a southerly direction on a single start.
Course A : Medusa (P), North East Gunfleet (S), Sunk Head Tower (S), Black Deep No.3 (S), Black 
Deep No.8 (P), Outer Fisherman (S), Broadstairs Knoll (S), Ramsgate Channel No.2 (S), Ramsgate 
Channel No.4 (S), North Quern (P).

Course B : Landguard (P), Cork Yacht Beacon (S), North East Gunfleet (P), Black Deep (S), Long Sand 
Head (S), Kentish Knock (S), Elbow (S), Ramsgate Channel No.2 (S), Ramsgate Channel No.4 (S), 
North Quern (P).
Course C: Course to be provided by the race officer on the day.
4. FINISHING 
Yachts shall finish by leaving the North Quern buoy to port and passing within two boat lengths of 
the buoy. The finish time shall be taken when the buoy bears 180 degrees from the boat.
6. DECLARATIONS 
Declarations should be made by text message to the race officer afloat as soon as possible after 
finishing.
7. RETIRING 
Any boat retiring MUST report the fact at the earliest possible opportunity to the Afloat Race Officer.
8. PROTESTS 
To be made in writing to the Afloat Race Officer within one hour of finishing.
9. AFTER FINISHING
Entering the harbour: Vessels are required to request entry to the harbour from Ramsgate Port 
Control on VHF ch.14 prior to passing through the breakwater.
Marina Berthing: Call Ramsgate Marina on VHF 80 to obtain berthing instructions. Note the marina 
is likely to be busy due to Ramsgate Week. If not competing in Ramsgate Week, we recommend 
booking ahead.
Social Activities: There is no planned dinner, social or prize-giving due to COVID-19. The Royal 
Temple Yacht Club will be open. Competitors are advised to book tables for drinks or food in 
advance as it may be busy for Ramsgate Week
